Family-Owned Construction Company
Alvarez Construction Company, one of Louisiana's largest production home builders, was founded in 1991 by the late Jairo Alvarez. Alvarez led an inspirational life of hard work, vision, and courage, building the company from the ground up together with his family. Today, their mark of excellence shines through in new home developments across a four-parish region. The newest communities include Oak Colony, and Dawson Bluff Townhomes in East Baton Rouge, Deer Trail in St. Tammany, and South Haven and South Creek in Livingston. Often, a customer who buys one home in an Alvarez community will seek out another Alvarez-built home when they need to relocate or right-size their home. In addition to building hundreds of homes each year, this family-owned and operated business has helped raise millions of dollars for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by building the St. Jude Dream Home. According to Carlos Alvarez, President, Alvarez Construction Company is committed to providing quality new construction and value to its homeowners and fellow Louisianans.
Their eldest son Carlos, an energetic, intelligent and articulate businessman, is in charge of building and selling. He graduated from Louisiana State University in Business Administration and has played an integral role in the company's success to date. One of his greatest personal assets is his ability to multi-task, a necessary skill in the building industry.
Jairo's daughter, Ana Marcela, graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a concentration in Foreign Language. She works full-time as the company's Administrative Manager and is in charge of accounting, bookkeeping and staff. The Alvarez family considers the administrative aspect a strong and important side of the business. Through the use of the computerized software tools, Ana Marcela keeps meticulous accounting records and taxes for the different corporations they own.
Sebastian, Jairo's youngest son, is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Landscape Architecture. He is in charge of planning and development. His job is to oversee land development and subdivision infrastructure, including street building, electrical work, sewage, etc. He hires architects and engineers and works closely with them in the planning process.
