Shyro Poullard: Saving the day with a smile
Shyro Poullard shows up to work every day with a smile and a positive attitude. Part of that comes from the excitement knowing she gets to help people all day as an Office Coordinator for Alvarez Construction Company. And more comes from knowing her callers may need a boost since they are likely facing a tricky situation at home.
“Not too many people call the warranty department happy, and I am okay with that,” Shyro said. “My goal each day is to feel a smile after every interaction I have and make things better.”
As the Customer Care Representative, Shyro is likely the first voice you will hear on the other end of the line. The Southern University graduate is well-versed in the details of your home’s 5-2-1 warranty, the process for work requests and home maintenance in general. The 5-2-1 warranty includes five years of coverage for structural defects, two years for mechanical issues and one year for the entire home including appliances.
Although working for a homebuilder like Alvarez Construction was not high on her radar, Shyro knew she wanted to find a career where she could connect with people. And she has always been a bit of a “fixer” making her friends and family laugh at the end of a hard day. She says that’s ultimately what drew her to this job in the customer service department in June.
“I love people, it’s as simple as that,” Shyro said. “I love being able to converse with so many people each day and build relationships with our homeowners.”
Most of all, she enjoys reassuring them that they will be taken care of and their concerns will be addressed with the same passion she displays on the phone. Another perk of her job with a family-owned business.
Shyro spends most of her day by the phone waiting to serve the homeowners that need her. And when she’s caught up on new calls and website inquiries, she splits the rest of her time following up on warranty requests, updating homeowners and assisting Celeste Lofdahl who is the Contract and Closing Coordinator.
When the workday is over, she will usually hit the gym, try to see friends when it’s possible and try new Pinterest recipes. Sometimes, she even shares!
